The task of the ÖAMTC air rescue service is to take care of patients – no matter where they are and ideally also regardless of the time of day. Until now, the C1 crew’s duty has usually ended at nightfall.

“Especially in the autumn and winter months, this means that the emergency helicopter is no longer available from the late afternoon. For us, the next logical step is to extend the operational readiness into the evening hours.”

Ready for action until 8 p.m

From November 15, the Innsbruck emergency doctor helicopter can be dispatched by the control center until at least 8 p.m. “This extension of working hours into the evening and early night hours is in line with optimal emergency care for the Tyrolean population,” Tiefengraber notes. The pilot project will initially run until March 25, 2023. “After the winter season, we will analyze the number of operations in detail,” Tiefengraber continues. “The main thing – in close cooperation with the state – is to further optimize the emergency medical care of Tyroleans during the night hours.”
