Flight Data Systems, a leading provider of end-to-end flight data solutions and services for business, military, commercial, and rotorcraft segments of aviation, today announced the selection of the SENTRYTM Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorder (CVFDR) and Modular Acquisition Unit (MAU) by Arista Aviation, an MRO facility for commercial and military rotorcraft.

The SENTRY CVFDR and MAU will be retrofitted onto UH-60 rotorcraft to provide flight data acquisition and storage for an undisclosed military operator, providing the lowest size, weight, and power (SWaP) ED-112 compliant flight data recorder platform on the market.

“When upgrading legacy airframes, Arista seeks out the latest technologies to ensure that our client’s investment is future-proofed and meets their objectives,” mentions Daryle Pilkinton, VP of Business Development, Arista Aviation. “With Flight Data Systems’ unique SENTRY CVFDR, which features state-of-the-art FPGA architecture, numerous interfaces, and an optional RIPS component, it was an easy decision to recommend this innovative solution to our end customer.”

The SENTRY includes a range of aircraft interfaces including ARINC-717, ARINC-429, Ethernet, RS-422/485, analog and discrete sensor inputs, data link recording, four high or low fidelity audio channels, and rotor speed input and holds Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certifications including TSO-C123a, TSO-C77a, TSO-C155b, and TSO-C121b. The SENTRY CVFDR shipset also includes a Cockpit Area Microphone (CAM) and Cockpit Control Unit (CCU) for easy-to-use functionality.

“Arista Aviation is an industry leader serving the highest levels of global rotorcraft operators, militaries, and governments,” mentions Shane LaPlante, VP Sales and Marketing, Flight Data Systems. “Their selection of the SENTRY CVFDR and our Modular Acquisition Unit (MAU) is a testament to the ingenuity and expandability of the products, and we standby to support them in the years to come.”
