Japan to replace attack and observation helicopters with drones

Attack helicopters have earned a reputation as one of the deadliest weapons on the battlefield, but Japan’s military thinks it can do without them. Japan’s army is now planning to replace its attack helicopters and observation helicopters with drones that will take over the roles of utility and attack, surveillance, and reconnaissance, according to the Japanese military’s Defense Buildup Program, published in December 2022.
