A LICENCE to operate a floating heliport on Sydney Harbour was issued to Newcastle Helicopters by the NSW government without a key requirement being fulfilled, in the latest breakdown in the proper approval process for the controversial project. (see full story)

R44 burst into flames on impact.  Student pilot was taken to hospital in a critical condition with serious burns.  Instructor Ivor Durham, owner and director of Newcastle Helicopters, died along with 21-year old Sam Bateman.
