The Russian Navy are receiving ten Ka-27M ASW helicopters that have been upgraded, which will be added to their naval aviation. In total they will upgrade 46 helicopters. The modifications include new tactical command systems, can be fitted with various weapons including KH-35 anti-ship missiles, reports The Diplomat.

The Russian Navy recently received their first modernised Ka-27M multipurpose helicopter from Russian Helicopters. The upgrades enable real-time transmission to ground and seaborne command stations as well as to other helicopters, reports Air Defence Blog. It will be used for anti-submarine defence, air reconnaissance and the search and detection of surface ships and submarines.

The Russian Navy is reportedly to take delivery of a naval version of the Kamov Ka62 within two years. Dubbed the Ka62 “Killer Whale”, the naval version will operate from small corvette ships. (see full story)
