Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in Northwest China has announced its intention to buy its first medical helicopter, a local health official was reported as saying on Monday.
Xinjiang plans to allocate one medical helicopter in the regional capital of Urumqi later this year, according to Yang Bo, director of the emergency management office with the regional health bureau of Xinjiang.

Once the hospital is chosen, it will be developed as the center of a new helicopter EMS network, with outlying centres to be to the north and south completing the plans in future years.   Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region covers an enormous area of 1.66 million sq.km, about one-sixth of China’s total.
