The Dutch frigate HNLMS De Ruyter left her home port of Den Helder yesterday for counterpiracy operations in the waters around Somalia as part of the European Union’s “Operation Atalanta”.

The ship is carrying an NH-90 helicopter, and the trip marks the first operational deployment of this type for the Netherlands.
