As this year’s wildfire season gets underway, the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forestry Service have issued a safety bulletin reminding pilots of the dangers of rotor strikes — main and tail — and the situations and attitudes that can cause them.

While the safety bulleting is intended for crews flying firefighting missions, many of the items in the bulletin are useful reminders about avoiding hazardous attitudes and situations for pilots flying other mission profiles as well.
