Russian Helicopter Market in Trouble

30-Sep-2016 Source: HeliHub.com

The Russian Helicopter Market is facing difficult times. In 2015-2016, Russia has faced a severe economic crisis, low oil prices and weak currency, which is affecting the demand for domestic and commercial helicopter flights. This, coupled with the competition of unmanned flights, is causing major problems for the helicopter market.

As reported by Russian Aviation Insider, the commercial fleet has shrunk 9% since 2015. Helicopter companies are in tough competition with each other as flights are hard to come by. People are switching to fixed-wing aviation or curbing their flight expenses. Many blame the depreciation of the ruble for the decrease in demand.
