MD Helicopters Inc (MDHI) used the HAI Heli-Expo in Dallas to showcase their new MD 6XX military and civil use helicopter. Based off the design of their MD 600N helicopter, the new MD 6XX differs by having a conventional tail rotor instead of the MD 600N’s NO-TAil Rotor. The aircraft has also been fitted with a new cockpit design, has the Rolls-Royce M250-C47E3 turbine for its new propulsion system and contemporary rotor blades. The designs for this craft were released a year ago at the 2016 HAI Heli-Expo. During that time they explained that the MD 6XX would be a large improvement on the MD 500 series. As reported by IHS Jane’s 360, they hope for production to begin in 2018.
